Review Of The Bulky Meaco Platinum Low Energy Dehumidifier

When it comes to getting rid of excess atmospheric water in your home or workplace, nothing comes more highly recommended than a dehumidifier. However, not just any old dehumidifier will do! While extraction rate plays a significant role, today’s savvy customer is looking for more than just that in a dehumidifier. Now, you have to consider things like accuracy, efficiency, and low energy consumption.

Of course, it doesn’t hurt if the dehumidifier also has an award to its name. Here’s my personal review of the Meaco Platinum Low Energy Dehumidifier and how it worked out for me.

What Are You Buying?

Literally standing tall as the winner for the Which Award Best Buy 2015 as part of the exclusive Meaco Platinum range, the Meaco Platinum Low Energy Dehumidifier is a large, white dehumidifier with a green strip running around the top.

I have gone through my fair share of dehumidifiers, but even I have to admit; this particular model is by far the largest I have ever seen. Measuring 38 by 59 by 29 centimetres and sitting at 13 Kgs, I’m not talking about the dimensions. It is the incredibly huge water collection tank that really draws your attention. Very few dehumidifiers can boast of a 6-litre water tank, even with an extraction rate of over 20 litres a day.

While simple and contemporary in design, the Meaco Platinum Low Energy Dehumidifier is packed with all the exciting features we have come to love in a great dehumidifier. With an easy to use control panel and various settings for the fans, you can now gain full control over the humidity in your home. The display lets you know what the current humidity levels are, and then shows your preferred, healthy humidity levels.

There’s also a setting that allows the Meaco dehumidifier to run until it reaches a certain humidity level i.e. 30 percent, after which it automatically shuts down for half an hour. Later on, it turns itself back on for a couple of minutes to test if the humidity has increased during those 30 minutes. If that is the case, it runs again until it reaches the desired humidity levels.

How Easy Is It To Use?

Do not be put off by the massive size or jam-packed array of features here; the Meaco Platinum Low Energy Dehumidifier is one of the most user-friendly models on the market. It is actually this massive size and certain functions that make this bad boy almost fully automatic. However, no dehumidifier is truly independent of human interaction.

I could talk about the massive 6L collection tank all day because it makes this unit surprisingly portable and self-sufficient. Thanks to this additional capacity, some people do not even have to empty the unit for days.

The Meaco Platinum Low Energy Dehumidifier may be a bit lighter than similar models of the same size, but 13 Kg is still quite substantial. Fortunately, Meaco included easy-glide casters that make transporting this bulky unit to any room in your house. The handle also makes carrying the Meaco Platinum Low Energy Dehumidifier a breeze.

The rotating louver helps in directing the air intake to those extremely hard to get spots that are usually swamped with dampness. Do you have curious and playful children in your home?

That’s all right; Meaco understands that the little ones can get curious and playful with all sorts of things in the house. This is precisely why the manufacturer included a child lock to ensure the safety of all your kids and that the dehumidifier does not get tampered with while you are away.

What Accessories Are Included?

Meaco Platinum Dehumidifier Key Features

Pros

  • Handle and easy glide castors for easier transportation

  • The Meaco Platinum Dehumidifier is a powerful and versatile unit with very few limitations, but the price might be a bit higher than most

Anything Else You Should Know?

Going through 160 cubic meters of air per hour at different fan speeds, the Meaco Platinum Dehumidifier is an absolute powerhouse. However, with increased power comes an unwanted side effect; more noise. While most smaller dehumidifiers churn around 35 decibels, this Meaco monster actually peaks at 46 decibels. Let’s just say you might want to keep the dehumidifier a little further away from your bed if you want to catch some shut eye.

Conclusion

In the war against excessive humidity, mold, condensation and damp conditions, the Meaco Platinum Dehumidifier is aptly equipped to deal with whatever level you’re experiencing. This unit has been tried and proven as an accurate way to dehumidify while still using far less energy than similar dehumidifiers of the same size. If you want to save on energy and still lead a healthier life, then this is the only dehumidifier you and your extended family will ever need.
