While the importance of maintaining the correct humidity levels cannot be understated, dehumidifiers will never really be trendy devices. This compact unit is the smaller brother to the DC202, which if you ask me is the best dehumidifier on the planet but the price tag is quite steep.

That’s why I went for the DC12 hoping they harnessed the quality and performance in a much smaller and affordable package. Although smaller than other models, the DC12 is right there with the best of them when it comes to performance.

In dehumidifiers, the name says it all. The EcoAir DC12 Dehumidifier has an extraction rate of 12 litres of atmospheric water per day. It is worth mentioning that this figure was tested in temperatures of 30C and around 80% relative humidity; that right there is what I call summer holiday weather.

However, people in the UK and similarly colder places will find the extraction rate a bit lower that the mentioned 12 litres a day. Initially, you may find the water tank almost full. But as the days go by and humidity levels drop to less than 50 percent, you should expect the rate to drop to around 4 litres a day.

Speaking of the water collection tank (condensation tank), I was taken aback by the fact that the EcoAir DC12 Dehumidifier comes with an impressive 3.5-liter tank. Why the surprise? Well, I’ve had my fair share of dehumidifiers, and I have seen much bigger models that couldn’t make it past 2 litres.

Keep in mind that the entire unit only measures 22 x 49 x 35 centimetres and only weight 11 kilograms. This makes the EcoAir DC12 Compact Portable Dehumidifier ideal for small offices and 3 or 4 bedroom homes and apartments. Thanks to the slim, contemporary design, you not only save space but minimise the footprint.

How Easy Is It To Use?

Just like most of EcoAir’s products, the EcoAir DC12 Compact Portable Dehumidifier is exceptionally easy to use. In addition to looking better than most, the DC12 also incorporates exciting features that aim to make your life better.

Starting us off is the easy to access control panel located right on top of the unit. In includes a LED display and four soft-touch and 2 additional humidity buttons that introduce users to incredible levels of control. The first button lets you control the timer between 2 to 4 hours. The next button controls the fan speed.

Since the DC12 has two fans, you can choose to use a lower, quieter setting which offers more economy or go for full speed to get optimum power and performance. The next button simply turns the unit on and off while the fourth button selects laundry mode for drying your laundry.

Nobody likes lugging around a large and heavy dehumidifier, especially since portability is not a strong point in dehumidifiers. While the EcoAir DC12 Compact Portable Dehumidifier is average in size and weight, 11.5 kg is still a lot to carry around. Fortunately, this particular unit is discreetly mounted with a set of castor wheels that make moving from room to room much easier.

Conclusion

Rarely do you find a device that is so efficient and well rounded. The EcoAir DC12 Compact Portable Dehumidifier is not only powerful and very easy to use, but is it also superbly designed and best of all; it is one of the cheapest dehumidifiers I have ever seen. If you are looking to deal with any amount of dampness or condensation problems in your home without having to break your bank, then this package is exactly what you need.
